Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Aebly Media platform, website (aeblymedia.com), mobile application, or any associated services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification.

Description of Service

Aebly Media is a civic engagement platform that presents news from multiple perspectives alongside real legislation from all three branches of government. The Service includes:

• Multi-perspective news analysis and AI-generated summaries
• Congressional bill tracking with simplified summaries
• A compass visualization based on user voting patterns
• Community features including comments and public profiles
• Swipe-based voting on legislative bills

User Accounts

You may browse certain content without an account. To access interactive features (voting, commenting, compass tracking), you must create an account using a valid email address.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Post content that is defamatory, obscene, threatening, or that incites violence
• Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation
• Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service or its servers
• Scrape, harvest, or collect user information without consent
• Use automated systems (bots, spiders, scrapers) to access the Service without written permission
• Manipulate voting or engagement metrics through artificial means
• Harass, bully, or intimidate other users

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these guidelines, at our sole discretion.

Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, graphics, logos, and trademarks on the Service are owned by or licensed to Aebly Media LLC. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

User-generated content (comments, profile information) remains your property, but you grant Aebly Media a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute such content in connection with the Service.

AI-Generated Content

Aebly Media uses large language models (LLMs) to generate summaries, analyses, and perspective breakdowns. This AI-generated content:

• Is clearly labeled as AI-generated throughout the platform
• May not reflect the views of Aebly Media, its founders, or any individual or organization
• Is provided for informational and educational purposes only
• Should not be relied upon as professional advice (legal, financial, medical, or otherwise)
• May contain errors, inaccuracies, or biases inherent in the underlying AI models

Third-Party Content & Links

The Service may display links to third-party news sources, articles, and websites. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party sites. Accessing third-party links is at your own risk.

News articles, headlines, and thumbnails sourced from third parties are displayed under fair use principles for commentary and criticism purposes.

User Data & Political Opinions

We take the privacy of your opinions seriously. Your compass data, voting patterns, and reading history are:

• Never sold to third parties
• Never used for political targeting or advertising
• Never shared with political campaigns, parties, or PACs
• Private by default — only you can see your full compass data unless you choose to make it public

Voting & Interaction Data

When you vote on bills, answer questions, or interact with content, this data is used to:

• Calculate and update your compass position
• Generate aggregate, anonymized statistics for the community
• Improve the quality of AI-generated content and recommendations

You may delete your voting history and compass data at any time through your account settings.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content (including AI-generated content) will be accurate, complete, or current.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AEBLY MEDIA LLC, ITS FOUNDERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Aebly Media LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, though some anonymized, aggregate data may be retained.

Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by JAMS in San Diego County, California, in accordance with JAMS Streamlined Arbitration Rules. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding.

You agree to waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Aebly Media LLC.
